Life in Texas- it's July?!

I've been home for over a full week now; finally getting re-adjusted. It still feels weird/wrong to poop in clean water though. TMI? Sorry, not sorry- I learned to love the idea of composting toilets; everything has a purpose on the farm, including your #2.

Solitary Bee house! 

This past weekend, my mom treated me to a Native Bee class at the Fort Worth Nature Preserve and Refuge. It was pretty cool! We learned about types of native bees around here, and got to make a solitary bee house! (Thanks, Mommy!!!) The FWNPR is a really awesome place, they've got 3600 + Acres and over 20 miles of hiking trails. This land was purchased by the city of Fort Worth back in 1914 to protect the water shed as development around of the Trinity River began. Protecting our natural water supply is a topic that I've become increasingly concerned about, so that was especially interesting to discover. In 1964 it was turned into an official nature preserve, and apparently (according to their website) the FWNPR is one of the largest city-owned preserves in the country! We're now both members, so I plan to go out there to get some nature time in fairly regularly! They also have a heard of bison so I need to go check out those critters. They're not hiring, I checked. Bummer. ;)

We're going to a Gem and Mineral show this weekend, pretty excited about that! Just need someone to buy me all the things and we'll be all set!
