Time to Bloom

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”  ― Anaïs Nin

I entered this next phase at first with resistance, but now I embrace this moment of transition and am grateful that I am conscious enough to really experience this moment in time for what it is. Once I allowed for distant dreams to become a possibility, it seemed like what needed to be done was put into motion- whether I thought I was ready or not! I never dreamed I would ever have a chance like this, and I am grateful to have an opportunity to bloom! I am excited to announce that I have been accepted as a 2016 Spring Intern for the United Plant Savers at the Goldenseal Botanical Sanctuary in Rutland, OH!I cannot wait to expand my knowledge on medicinal plant conservation, native herb cultivation, and oh so much more for six weeks, starting May 2nd. Rehabilitation of native landscapes in general, plus cultivation of at risk medicinal plants has always been intriguing to me. Obtaining hands on instruction on plant identification and land management has always been a goal of mine, so this opportunity is just what I've been waiting for. I have never been to Ohio, but I hear it is absolutely beautiful, and the amount of medicinal plant species that naturally occur in this area is just amazing. Being a hands on learner, this Certificate in Medicinal Plant Conservation will no doubt be best way for me to grow, in ways that I'm sure I can't yet fathom. I know these natural habitats are crucial to our ecosystems and it is becoming more clear that something must be done.  I cannot wait to develop these skills and knowledge so that I can incorporate them into my life and eventually, community. I will definitely be blogging and posting throughout my trip so all of you can join me for the adventures!
